Bio
My youngest child and only son, David, shipped out today 8/8/11 to Parris Island. Coincidentally, this is also my grandson's and David's nephew's 5th birthday. I was so happy watching David swear in today and saw how much pride he had because of his decision to join the Marines. I just got my phone call from David, that he had arrived safely at Parris Island. David sounded scared and shaken up, which made me cry because he was given a script to read from and then hung up. I know this is all a part of the training he will be going through and my first thought was, it takes a great man to show the kind of fear that I could hear in my son's voice. I will never forget this phone call and I know David will be a successful, respected Marine and will defend our country with honor. I am so proud of him and I love him very much.Advice

What is a piece of advice you have for recruits, new Marines, or members of the Marine Corps family?
Support your son or daughter completely in their decision to join the Marines. Obviously, we as parents, did a great job raising these young men and women who want to fight for their country, for themselves and for us. We should all stand proud.
