So it's been a year in the making. My Son Nick joined the DEP program in May of last year. He did his first swearing in last July. Today he leaves for Recruit Training. I don't know where we would be without his Recruiter.

Supporting Your Son or Daughter
While away from home, your son or daughter will find a place within the Marine family. He or she will still need your love and support, but brotherhood amongst Marines will keep him or her as safe as possible.
When you carry a baby for 9 months you have a bond like no other. It's hard to let him grow up and become a man. I had to finally accept it when he became a Marine. Man is defined as Marine....there is a difference.

My oldest son left for boot camp on Monday the 18th. This has been so hard because we have had a rough time this year with my father and my husband passing away one month apart. My son was such a rock for me.

It has been a week since my son left for boot camp and I am having a hard time not seeing him or talking to him. Everyone tells me to think of it as he is gone to college, but they don't understand they can see their kids and talk to them on the phone.
