Recruit and Specialty Training
Marine Corps training happens in several stages. In order to prepare for life as a Marine, your son or daughter must first go to Recruit Training and then to Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) Training (MOS is the term for a Marine's job).
Well it has been almost 3 weeks since my husband left for recruit training in Parris Island. It is very hard not being able to talk to him and not really knowing much of anything i got my first letter from him last friday which was a big relief.

Yesterday (Sunday) morning, our phone rang and my wife answered it. A female voice on the other end asked who she was speaking to, and then proceeded to ask her if she had a daughter at boot camp at Parris Island.

Our daughter told us last December that she was going to become a Marine. We had always thought she would join the Military, but the Marines was not the service we thought she would join.

3rd RTBN PLT 3012 Co. K, I received a call Dec 13th my son is receiving medical treatment and his graduation will be delayed. On Dec 21st I received a letter from my son and he is in recruit separation platoon.

My son left for San Diego on Monday,12/5/2011 we were able to go to MEPS and spend time with him until he left for the airport. I haven't been able to stop crying. Now we are just waiting for his phone call.

My only son shipped to boot camp in San Diego on 9/7. I have yet to receive the first letter. This must be the hardest week--only the 10 second phone call so far. I have constant reminders of him around the house and at work.

My son has just completed his 1st week as a recruit. I am so proud, but I can't help but worry. Summer at Parris Island sounds pretty awful. 115 degree heat indexes every day for a week.

Gearing up for Recruit Training
My ship date is set for May 21, 2012. Two weeks later than my original date(7th). I am so anxious, eager, nervous.....everything in one (I can't explain the feeling.

Time has flown by - but yet in an odd way, it's felt like forever. My son has entered the second phase of training and already I can tell how the Marine Corps has shaped his life forever.
