Recruit and Specialty Training
Marine Corps training happens in several stages. In order to prepare for life as a Marine, your son or daughter must first go to Recruit Training and then to Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) Training (MOS is the term for a Marine's job).
Yesterday (Sunday) morning, our phone rang and my wife answered it. A female voice on the other end asked who she was speaking to, and then proceeded to ask her if she had a daughter at boot camp at Parris Island.

3rd RTBN PLT 3012 Co. K, I received a call Dec 13th my son is receiving medical treatment and his graduation will be delayed. On Dec 21st I received a letter from my son and he is in recruit separation platoon.

My son left for San Diego on Monday,12/5/2011 we were able to go to MEPS and spend time with him until he left for the airport. I haven't been able to stop crying. Now we are just waiting for his phone call.

My only son shipped to boot camp in San Diego on 9/7. I have yet to receive the first letter. This must be the hardest week--only the 10 second phone call so far. I have constant reminders of him around the house and at work.

My son Jared just left for Parris Island on Dec 13. Missing him already. He went to college for 1 1/2 yrs but still wanted to join the Marines. We tried to get him to at least get his associates degree first but that is not what he wanted...

Boot Camp [Part 3] What should I write to my recruit
WHAT TO WRITE: I have had many parents tell me they cannot think of enough things to write so they can send “daily” letters of support. I find that sad and upsetting.

My son left for boot camp on Monday November 1st. He was suppose to go on March 1st 2011 but he told his recuiter if there was an early opening that he would go.
