My daughter left Monday, October 17, 2011 for boot at Parris Island. I know she is going to be awesome and do great things. I couldn't be any prouder. However, I feel like a part of me is missing. I feel lost without her.

My son left on Monday, October 17, 2011 for Parris Island with an anticipated graduation date of January 13, 2012. And by the way I didn't get a call either. I want you all to be encouraged throughout this process.

My son left October 17th for boot camp. He has wanted to be a Marine since he was about 12 years old and now he is embarking on that journey. I am so very proud of him! On the other hand, I feel as though part of me is missing.

My son left October 11 for MCRD
My son left October 11th for MCRD. My heart sank yet I was so proud of him. He is doing what he believes he was called to do. I did not get a phone call but we got our first form letter. Just seeing his handwriting I knew he was okay.

My son, Tony, is at MCRD right now, graduating October 12th. I would love to correspond with other parents of recruits down there possibly training and graduating with Tony. I am both excited and proud for him and this commitment he has made.

Three weeks today...wow I can not believe there are 10 more to go. I've kept busy so that I don't dwell on his absence and each time he comes to mind I just pray. From his first letter, I know his dream of becoming a Marine is still alive and well.

Strong decision and persistance
My son left on October 11, 2011 and I as I saw him leaving my heart went with him. At the age of 20 he wanted to become a Marine because he was already a man. He will always be my baby but his decision and persistence make me think other wise.

Graduation date of October 7,11 Parris Island
My daughter left at 3:30 a.m. on June 20th, I can count the days I have not cried for her. She was only 17, turning 18 July 25th,11. She became ill the first 2 weeks of boot camp, I felt extremely helpless here in L.A. while she was 100 miles away.

Reading all the comments from previous families really helps. Having an idea of what he is doing everyday is helpful to pass the time.
