Son left MEPS today 15Oct12

 

It was hard seeing him leave today, especially from the same MEPS station I left almost 30 yrs. ago. But knowing what he's going to accomplish and knowing it was his decision to join the Marine Corp. my wife and family are VERY PROUD of our son.

My son is getting ready to leave to become a Marine. Part of me is excited for him and the other part is dying inside because my son is leaving and lets face it when he comes back he wont need me anymore.

My fiance arrived in San Diego on June 13, 2011. He said he would write me within the first week and I have yet to receive a letter with his address. I am trying to remain positive as I know he is very busy.

Letters to Parris Island

 

Our son has been gone 4 weeks now and 2 weeks ago his girlfriend got the first letter so since then we have all been sending him letters to the return address on his letter including his battalion and his company.

The "hand off"

 

My husband and I just "handed off" our oldest son at 9:00 am this morning with his recruiter. Needless to say, I could not stick around very long because I did not want my son to see my tears, or to feel bad in any way.

My daughter was serving a tour in Afghanistan. We have twins in the Marine Corps. After a time of prayer for her, this poem flowed from me. You see, she had contacted me, the night previous from a busy night and had a lot left to do.

PARRIS ISLAND MY SON LEFT 8/8/11 FROM MIAMI

 

Hello all you Mom's and Dad's. My son is at Parris Island, and I have had 2 letters from him, I wish I could say he sounded upbeat, but I cannot. I am sending him positive letters back, in hopes of a different response on my next letter.

Crying for hours...

 

My best friend and boyfriend left for boot camp sometime in December. He returned home but my mother wouldn't let me go see him while he was here. I haven't seen him since a week or two before he left and won't see him until September.

My son left to Bootcamp.

 

Today is November 5th, 2012 and my only son left today for bootcamp. I have spent the entire day crying. I am aware that he will become a Marine which is what he wanted but I am miserable and I am dreading the first call.
