It was hard seeing him leave today, especially from the same MEPS station I left almost 30 yrs. ago. But knowing what he's going to accomplish and knowing it was his decision to join the Marine Corp. my wife and family are VERY PROUD of our son.

Hello all you Mom's and Dad's. My son is at Parris Island, and I have had 2 letters from him, I wish I could say he sounded upbeat, but I cannot. I am sending him positive letters back, in hopes of a different response on my next letter.

My best friend and boyfriend left for boot camp sometime in December. He returned home but my mother wouldn't let me go see him while he was here. I haven't seen him since a week or two before he left and won't see him until September.

Today is November 5th, 2012 and my only son left today for bootcamp. I have spent the entire day crying. I am aware that he will become a Marine which is what he wanted but I am miserable and I am dreading the first call.
