Daughter off to Parris Island August 22, 2011
My daughter shipped to Parris Island August 22. Any other mom's with daughters that shipped that day? I am so pround but yet so scared for her I kind of wish I could do the training for her just so she wouldn't have to.

My son will be leaving for Parris Island on 6/13/11 and I would like to know if there are any other parents that have a son/daughter leaving on that day. I would like to have someone to keep up with what is going on, and knows what I am going through.

The beginning of a new chapter....
My son shipped out for Parris Island on Aug 22nd. It is the weirdest feeling. Excitment, pride, fear, sadness, happiness, anxiety all rolled into one. The thought of him moving on to become a man, a soldier is now reality.

My son Joe left fo Parris Island today...Joe has talked of wanting to become a Marine for a couple of years now and I'll admit I wasn't crazy about it at first, but after talking with him a lot I realized that he truly felt that this was his "calling".

My son left June 28, 2011 for Houston with the Marine Recruiter. He contacted us on the 29th around 4PM stating he was suppose to catch the plane at 6PM for San Diego. We had not heard from him since he was in Houston.

My son left on Monday, August 1, 2011, from New Orleans, LA for Parris Island . We have still not heard from him.

Wow! Finally, We received the call from our son Jon today and just as expected short and to the point. I can hear the difference in his voice. I barely made out was he said.He left on Monday July 18, 2011 and it seems like he's been gone for much longer.

My son Trevor, is leaving for Basic Training on Tuesday. I am having a difficult time and would welcome any suggestions on how to get through the next 5 years.

Swearing In & Headed to Boot Camp
It's been a week since my 20 year old son swore in to be a Marine and headed to boot camp. Haven't heard any news yet, but I am sure that he is very busy and I hope to hear from him soon. Watching him swear in was a very moving moment for me.
