When our son enlisted we had NO idea what we were getting into!! He leaves for boot camp 3/26/12 & already the family welcome has been overwhelming!! Not only HIS life is changing, but OURS as well. We have no blood family to speak of here.

As the day grew closer for us to leave to San Diego Ca I could not get there fast enough. I was a bundle of nerves. So excited to see my son, but worried that the Marines would have changed him somehow.When we got there on Wednesday I could not sleep.

Family Day and Graduation Day.

 

Nothing could prepare me for the emotions I would feel on this day, The 9 hour drive was incredibly stressful, we left on Wednesday afternoon not a moment to soon. I had so many emotions, so many memories, so many thoughts.

When my nephew Luis Suardiaz announced to us that he wanted to be become a Marine, I was sad and worried, I was lucky enough to have him for a few weeks in my house, before he left for boot camp in June.

A new menber of a military family.

 

My son Andrew Waldrop left for boot camp on 7/25/11 the day before his 10 y/o sisters birthday she turned 11 the day after he left. My son left us here in Texas to become a very proud and dedicated young man. We are all so proud of him here.
