I am a second generation Marine. I served from 1988 1996 and took a break. I re-enlisted in the Ca Army National Guard in 2003 and Served for 9 years, duirng which time I deployed ISO OIF V, & VI.

My son is enlisted at 17

 

There is so much I don't know..... My son has wanted to be a Marine since he was in 3rd grade now at 17 he is enlisted and so excited and proud. We (Dad & I) are incredibly proud but scared to death! I know so little about the whole process.

I would love to communicate with other mom's whose sons have just gone in....to give eachother encouragement if they are further along than my son. This was so tough today....saying goodbye and watching him run to get on the bus.

A big decision

 

I'm 15 years old, almost 16, and out of the blue, I feel like God is calling me to be a Marine. I can't describe the feeling. I am scared, but excited, and very nervous about all this because I don't know much about the Marines and what it consists of.

Boot camp

 

My son was suppose to leave on April 8th, he was moved up to January 28th, we had four days to get ready. Not nearly enough time. Like the other mother that was not nearly enough time. I would cry one day and be so proud the next.

My family and I traveled over 500 miles to see our New Marine Graduate. It was a long 3 months but after seeing him it was well worth the wait.

My Grandson left for boot camp May 6, 2012. I had 10 precious years raising him filling the role of his Mother. Needless to say, I love him to death.
