My husband is on his MCT in Camp Pendleton. He started last July 19th. We visited him last Sunday for his liberty day. It was fun. And we were so happy to see and spent the day with him. But I have some question, anybody can help me.

My son left for MCRD on 12/12. Received letter this week that he is now a 2nd phase recruit at Camp Pendleton. He seems very positive about his choice. I miss my only son but I'm so proud of him.

My 17 y/o son wrote the poem below for his brother, an 18 y/o new Marine, after he graduated from San Diego in September 2011, and was stationed in California. They are 14 months apart n age, and have never really been away from each other before RT.

My son Matthew left on Aug 23rd for Camp Pendleton. The first week he was gone was hard on us since we never got the first phone call home. That's about all we could think about..... your mind starts thinking of all the reasons why he didn't call.

I thought I would feel relief when Joe began boot camp. Relief that he would not get into trouble, as only young adults can. Instead, I have been on pins and needles. Joe did call, that I would know he had arrived and was o.k.

Our son today started his final week of phase #1, 'Swim Week". On Saturday he will be on movement to Camp Pendleton where he will finish out phase #2, which consists of three weeks of training.
