My boyfriend just left for Parris island... And it's been really hard to cope. I mean usually we talk every single day. In the morning he would wake me up with a good morning text and at night call me to say goodnight. I know he is a strong man.

Parents with daughters

Are there any parents out there with young ladies at Parris Island, SC? I would love to connect with some. I feel very isolated on this site, as most of the stories are about men and it is definitely not the same. Thanks.

Letting go

My son left for boot camp yesterday. This has been his dream from a young boy and that makes me a proud mother. At the same time I couldn't sleep last night and have cried often. My heart aches to be able to protect him as a mother does.

We often wondered what the future would hold for our Son.

Brendon was always a relatively good kid, however school was very challenging for him. Because of his struggles with his grades, he wasn't able to play school sports. He wasn't the band, choir or drama type either.

Demands on the Family

In order to support the decision to serve, you and your family must consider the realities of life as a Marine: selfless service, the potential to see combat, and time away from home, in addition to the many benefits of Marine Corps service.
