Our recruit left for boot on 16 April. We didn't hear from him until about a week and a half later. We were sweating bullets waiting to hear how he was. Then we got our first letter from him. Frankly I was a little shocked.

Our son left for P.I. on Oct. 11. We have yet to hear from him (other than the 15 second phone call at 02:20). Is this unusual to be waiting 10 days with no letter yet? Maybe I'm just too nervous for him. He is in 2nd BN., Charlie Co.
