Gentlemen and Ladies of the United States Marine Corps, I consider this an honor to respond to your request for this Father’s perspective of my son, F-18 Pilot, Captain Trevor Matthew Hull, USMC.

Trevor was born in a small logging town in Oregon’s Willamette Valley in a loving home. From the beginning this child was exceptional. Throughout his young life he captured us with his quick easy smile, and a noticeable curiosity for all of his surroundings. Trevor eagerly learned the ways of rural life, was exposed to city life, and grew to become a thoughtful young man. Combined with his integrity and love for God, people, and country he captures the hearts of his family, friends, and acquaintances.

I will never forget the day we attended the 1990 Hillsboro, Oregon Air Show. Trevor and his siblings were excited to attend the show, but I sensed that this was a special time for Trevor. We all watched with amazement as a Marine Harrier Jump Jet flew back and forth and around us. And watching with equal amazement the jet hovered and landed. A short while later the tarmac opened for visitors. We were fortunate enough to visit with the pilot of the Harrier. I took a photograph of the occasion noticed the energy and excitement the children expressed. I am not sure if that was the moment that Trevor decided to become a pilot, but I’ll let the attached photo speak for itself.

As a High School student Trevor traveled to a local airport, and without our knowledge he enrolled in beginning flight school. With hard work, and some financial assistance from his grandfather, he began his career in aviation.

Trevor graduated from high school, attended Oregon State University, and then discovered Bowling Green State University’s Aviation Studies, to which he transferred. He found a curriculum that equaled his interests, and a resource that was interested in his future as an aviator.

The United States Marine Corps became that future.

God bless us all, the United States of America, and the United States Marine Corps.

Respectfully, William (Bill) Hull

"The United States Marine Corps became that future" I'm a USMC advocate and I'm liking this phrase.
