“For some kids, the anticipation of Christmas will be a little different from most. They know their parents are struggling and worry whether Christmas will be a day of sadness instead of excitement and glee. Still, they hope beyond hope that somehow… some way, come Christmas morning, there will be presents under the tree.” “Moms are sad because they know they can’t afford the kind of Christmas their kids expect. But yet, they have hope, too…” SOUND BITE FROM MOM (already on spot): “Kids?” SOUND BITE FROM KIDS (already on spot): “Deep breath of excitement” “The United States Marine Corps is honored to step up and lend a hand to these families. Every kid deserves a happy Christmas, but we need your help. Put a smile on a kid’s face; join the Marines and help create joy, laughter and fun on Christmas Day. “ “Thanks to your generosity, Marines have delivered Christmas to children in need since 1947.”
The 2010 Marine Toys For Tots campaign is fully deployed, collecting donations from generous people everywhere.
Since 1947, the program has distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million children in need. This charitable endeavor has made the U.S. Marines the unchallenged leaders in looking after less fortunate children at Christmas.
Marines are taught to lead at every level of the Corps. The Toys For Tots initiative is a great example of how principles like “lead by example” can be seen in action in the community.
The goal of the Marine Toys For Tots Foundation is to send a message of hope that will assist youngsters in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
