As a parent of a recruit, I can not wait for the day I see my son again with his Eagle, Globe and Anchor and the title of UNITED STATES MARINE. I am a Vietnam Vet who was drafted into the ARMY...and that is one of the only regrets I have. If I would have known then what the Marines stood for, I would have opted to join. I was an Airborne Medic and thought that I was tough. After seeing what my son has been doing as a "poolee" and being at Parris Island as a "recruit", I know that whatever career path he chooses (Military or Civilian) he will have the best core values instilled in him which will make him proud to be an American... let alone a U.S. Marine forever.
