My "Future" Marine

My son Recruit Johnson, Adrian J. left for boot camp on November 5th, 2012. He is 22 years old and this is his first time away from home for an extended amount of time. I knew the day would come when he would leave home and start his own family and experience life, but it was still very hard for me to see him go and be gone for 13 weeks. My daughters both miss their big brother and are looking forward to seeing him at graduation Feb. 1st. His letters are positive in the aspect of having "new brothers" and learning new things. He has been used to "team effort" since he has always played football as well as other sports. I am very proud of him as well as very thankful that he has chosen to makea difference with his life. The weeks apart have gotten a little easier but I still miss my bestfriend very much and can't wait to be the first to give him the biggest bear hug a mother can possibly muster. Thank you to all the men and women who have come before him to serve our country.

I am so excited that my son will be graduating with his Platoon of new brothers on February 1st, 2013 at MCRD San Diego. He is in 1st Battalion Alpha Company Platoon 1010. I would like to congratulate all the young men who started this journey with my son on November 5th, 2012. You guys have endured a lot and have gained a new found understanding of what it truly is to become " A Man." I would also like to thank all of the parents for supporting their sons and daughters who chose to serve our country, because I know how hard these weeks have been on us as well. I look forward to meeting the "new extended families" that he/we have gained.

Hey Tasha,
My son also left on Nov. 5th and will graduate Feb. 1st. I know exactly how your feeling. I feel like a part of me is missing and even though his letters have been positive, I can't help as a mother to think about him and what he's going through every minute of the day. My son is in the 2 BN, Platoon 2012, Hotel Co. which Platoon is your son in?

Hi Ramie,
I do apologize that it took me so long to respond. My son is in 1st BN Alpha Co, Platoon 1010. Adrian will also graduate on Feb 1st. I can't wait!! We get letters every week but I still miss him very much. I got to talk to him on New Years Day and I know I sounded a hot mess because I could not get my words out through tears. I tell you what, it made my day though.
