My son just left on Sun, Juiy 15, 2012. I'ts very difficult to walk by his room, see his truck, or do anything that we use to do. We had been through alot together and I really miss him. I hope to find another parent(s) whose son left the same time. This is much harder than I thought it would be...

Our son left on July 16th. It was so hard to say goodbye. I have already written him 3 letters and i am anxiously waiting for his address. I'm not even sure how we will get it? Email...text...mail? I think about him constantly and am just praying that he is doing ok.

My son is also in San Diego right now. I just got a letter yesterday from him. I was AMAZED! He has NEVER been much of a corresponder, but....he is now! I guess he wrote me earlier but his drill instructor tore it up. He was writing when he should have been doing something else! I'm touched he even put pen to paper! I'm mailing 3 letters to him today! I don't think they are allowed to e-mail or text. Just US mail. My son's name is Tony. What Platoon is your son in?

My son leaves today, 7/23 for Parris Island, and it is ten times harder to see him go than when my other son left for college 2 years ago. Saddest and proudest day of my life

Hello Ash,
My son left on July 16, 2012 early that morning from Houston, TX. He was on a flight to San Diego by lunch time. It has been hard this week. Both his younger brother and sister keep asking when he is going to call or get to write. They are anxious to write to him. I hope to hear from him soon.

Have you heard from your son yet? Do you have his platoon #? My son also left on the 16th. Would be great to find other parents with recruits in the same platoon. We received our first letter on the 25th. Very brief....just a few sentences and attached to a form letter. Hang in there!
