My son, my hero, my Marine!

I saw this phrase on a t-shirt at the Corps Store in Beaufort, SC on Family Day, just before I went to see my son at Parris Island for the first time in 3 months, and it so clearly expressed my feelings. I was so anxious to see him, and just bursting with pride and admiration for what he had accomplished. My boy who left home in February would now be a man and, more importantly, a Marine.
It was the hardest 3 months of my life (and of his as well), but it was so worth it when I saw him standing tall and proud in his uniform. Family Day was a great time for bonding and getting to see where he had been, and for hearing about his adventures. Then, Graduation Day came. Watching him march across the parade grounds with 425 other Marines - what an impressive sight! His 10-day leave home went way too fast, but it was so great to see how he had grown and changed from this experience. He is now at Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, NC, and we are preparing to attend his SECOND graduation in 2 weeks. How far he has come in a few short months! He is truly my hero, my Marine!
