The "hand off"

Posted By: Karen Pope 05-06-12

My husband and I just "handed off" our oldest son at 9:00 am this morning with his recruiter. Needless to say, I could not stick around very long because I did not want my son to see my tears, or to feel bad in any way. This is just about the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, and yet the pride in what is about to happen keeps popping into my mind. He will be a GREAT Marine, and they have no idea what a smart, strong, focused and dedicated Marine he will be.
