Just found out about this marine parents site today and I'm crying and smiling my way through the stories. Our son left for Parris Island on January 8th. I had forgotten about the call as the recruiter told us that sometimes it doesn't happen if they get in late. Needless to say when awoken in the middle of the night and got the call it took me a second to figure out what was going on and who it was, then it was over before I knew it. I smiled myself back to sleep. Prior to that moment I told my husband I would not answer the phone that day as I was afraid I'd cry through the call (as I did when I watched the bootcamp videos), but it took me so off guard that I came through strong and smiling. It's been 4 weeks today since he left and we've received regular letters and they get better each time. I cannot wait to get the mail each day and he really appreciates our letters and letters from friends. The graduation stories are so helpful too. I'm really looking forward to April 6th. I miss him so much, but am so proud.
