Parris Island bound and proud

Posted By: Aimee Lord 01-17-12

My son leaves for Parris Island in 26 days. The closer his date gets the more anxious I become. I really don't have anyone to share my thoughts with. No one seems to understand what it means. I am so very proud of my son. But no one seeems to care about my anxieties and concerns, after all this is a good thing he is doing, I should be grateful he isn't in jail or running around in trouble, Is what I seem to get from folks when I bring up his leaving. I don't feel like I am getting a lot of support.

I have searched the internt looking for support groups. I hope this will be a good resource for support.

I am so excited and proud of my son. I couldn't ask for a better experience. I love my son, this is the 1st time we will be apart. I'm gonna miss him like crazy.

I know how you are feeling. My son left for PI 2/6/12. He has wanted to be a Marine since he was in 10th grade...he is 19 now. I think about my son everyday, a few times a day hoping he is doing okay. I am so proud of my son but on the other hand scared for him. I miss him dearly...he is my only son. Keep your head up...I was told by my husband, he isn't the first one to go through this and won't be the last, doesn't help me but it's true :)
