Letters

I am loving the mail I receive from my recruit. He is a mentally tough, always stoic kind of person. I was surprised when he wrote for me to spread the word, "I want more mail, it's the best part of the day-besides chow."

It's really true. Get those letters going to your recruit! It's important. I write almost everyday even if it's just nonsense chatter. Harrass their friends and relatives to pick up a pen. It's easy and means more than the words you've written.

Thanks, sometimes my when my letter isn't the greatest I pass it around to family and friends to add a sentence or two. I love your idea of pre stamped and addressed ready to go. I will start carrying some with me. I have no excuses not to step it up and write to other recruits also. Thanks for what you do and your encouragement to our kids. As to my recruit, I truely believe this is his calling.

Hey KIM.. Wellspoon1 here . near PHilly,pa. glad to see you posted again. Glad to see your recruit let you know how important mail call is everyday.I also wrote everyday. and also had everyone I could find to write to my MARINE while at PI.. I estimated ,and my MARINE confirmed the estimate of about 600 to 700 letters received while in boot. He had letters from complete strangers, from VFW and AM LEGION posts. I even went to the local MARINE CORPS LEAGUE post and had them send him some mail. When I would see someone with military stickers on their cars or hats or hear them talk about being in the military I would give them an envelope with a stamp and a sheet or 2 of paper already addressed to PI and ask them to send it... Wait till you see the results of your efforts.. good luck to your recruit!!!!!!!
