To all those Parents who sent their boys to boot camp...When they are done they will be men. I sent 3 boys to Parris Island. And when they graduated, I had 3 Men. Yes this is harder then sending them to college. The proudest moment of your life will be the day they become U.S. Marines. Better then H.S. graduation.
Please, Please, do NOT follow your recruit around (moms) when you go up to see them. As they can NOT wave to you or anything like that. Get t-shirts made yes, banners made yes, show your support by being good... Don't make the drill instructor get on him, they have worked to hard for this day. I have seen (moms) make fools of themself. Go up the day before family day, look around, there is a lot to see. And try to find them...they all look alike lol. All they want to do is get out of there when they are done. Have a picnic. Make subs bring a cooler with their favorite drinks ,snacks.
The hardest thing I ever did was send my sons to boot camp. The proudest moment was to see them become U.S. Marines. The last time I was in Parris Island was 2 years ago. And remember it like the day he was born.
My 20 year old is in Japan, 23 year old is in afgan, and the 24 year old just got out. You are now Blue Star Parents. Be proud, get yourself a blue star pin a Marine pin. wear them proud.
