My son left October 11 for MCRD

My son left October 11th for MCRD. My heart sank yet I was so proud of him. He is doing what he believes he was called to do. I did not get a phone call but we got our first form letter. Just seeing his handwriting I knew he was okay. Is there anyone else that has someone who left on that day? I am searching for all the info I can get and learn. I cry at the drop of a pin. I work with a lot of military in education and my eyes swell with tears thinking about my son. My husband even cries when we talk about him yet we are both so proud of him.

Exciting news! we have received several letters. Ups and downs of course. Our son's platoon was sick for a while! Our son is doing well and says he has made some great friends and really likes being in the group he is in. He graduates January 6th. Does anyone else have a son in 1st RBTN Bravo Co. 1027, In San Diego? I can't wait to see our son! I am so excited, it is better than Christmas!

My son also left on the 11th of October, we were unprepared due to the fact that he wasn't supposed to leave until November the 7th!!! It has been an emotional rollercoaster, I was so worried but I recieved his first letter last thursday. I cried and called my mom. We were so glad to know he was okay and he let us know that the worst part was being away from family. He is very dedicated to becoming a Marine, this is something he has wanted for a long time. I am impatiently awaiting January 6th when I will get to see him again, as a Marine.

Hi Julie, we just saw our son on a website called devildogs.com under his platoon 1027! what platoon is your son? I am so excited I can't wait to see our son! I can't say enough how proud I am of him. I smile every time I think about his dreams coming true to become a United States Marine! No it has not been easy but we have received letters! One 20 second phone call! LOL he sounds very confident. We have already made our plans to attend the family day and graduation. I know how excited you are about seeing your son...me too...I giggle thinking about it! Have a Merry Christmas!
