My son left on the same day from Jacksonville FL and Went to Parris Island SC I just got my letter from him yesterday it was the best day I have had since he left it did not say much it was really like a form letter but knowing that I could write to him now made all the difference for me. I still cry every now and then but I just miss him soooo much. I know he is safe but I just miss him. I have written him back and plan to send him a small letter every day I also plan to include an uplifting scripture everyday to help him when he might be feeling down or weak. My son is in 1st Bn Plt 1089 would love to speak to anyone who's son is in this plt.

Our son graduated Parris Island on April 8, 2011. I will tell you that it is very hard but you can do it. Try to send him a letter or at least a note each day. Our son talked about how much the letters helped. Also make the letters very positive and encouraging. Be sure not to tell anything that may to happening at home that may upset him. They have to stay focused. Try your best to make it to family day and graduation. You can not imagine how great it will be. Words cannot describe it. When looking for a place to stay go on VRBO.com and look in Beufort,SC or Port Royal, SC. There are lots of listings near the base. We stayed in a 3 bedroom brick home about 4 miles from the base for less than it would have cost to stay in a hotel. Stay encouraged. You will make it thru it. I know it seems long and like it will never end but take it from a mother who has already gone thru it, YOU WILL MAKE IT and you will be so proud!!
