It has been 3 long weeks since my daughter left CA for Parris Island. I have received several letters from her, but they have not been positive by any means. However, when she writes to my husband and or other family members, she always thows in something positive! I have realized that I am her sounding board and her "safe" place where she can let loose and tell it like it is. It certainly is not easy, but she has to vent to someone. I am excited to get my first letter that tells me how much she has learned and that she is having some fun!
I write to her everyday, telling her funny stories or just what I am doing for the day. I always add some inspirational quote or Bible phrase that she can re-read when she is feeling down.
I know she is a strong, determined woman, and will be successful in the path she has chosen. I look forward to seeing her parade across the deck at graduation. I know she will hear my voice praising her.
Thank you to all the posters sharing their stories, it helps to know that I am not alone; just one of the few proud moms with daughters in boot camp!

Hi Lisa, My son is scheduled to graduate Nov 18. We are now 1/2 way through week 4. It feels like forever since he left. How are you doing? I have good days and bad days. I'm so proud of him. I can't wait for family day and graduation. We've received quiet a few letters.....considering....he sounds good. He has gotten sick and is on meds. Hopefully that will clear up. I hope your son is doing well. What brave young men we have.
