I am hoping to hear from some other parents and family members of other recruits in Platoon 1076 / Company C. I would love to get to know something about the brave young men that are serving directly beside my son.

My son is a DI in 1st Bn Charlie Co. Plt. 1073. I want so much to be there to watch his first platoon graduate. However, I am unable to attend, but will be thinking of you all. Congratulations to your Marines.

My son is in 1st RTBN Platoon 1076 Co. C. He left July 11th and we are looking forward to his graduation. We have received about 6 letters from him and he says it's rough but he's hanging in there. He said the heat index has been up to 111 degrees or more which makes it rough but we are from Alabama and he's experienced that kind of heat while playing football. I hope all these young men stay healthy and strong to get through this training.

Brian, my son Sean is in the same company and Battalion and yours. He left on July 11th. From the letters I have recieved he is doing pretty good. I can also see a big difference in him already.
Can't wait to see him on Oct. 6th.

I guess we are all over the map's with the Charlie Company... I too had a son who left CT July 10th to be in Parris Island on the 11th... My son's platoon is 1077, we also received letters which sounds like my son hasn't lost his sense of humor. This makes a mom happy... Best wishes to you and your recruit. I will look you up on F/B. I too wonder if he is getting our letter because his letters seem to repeat the same things.. but we just keep sending them to keep the communications going.

My son left for Parris Island on July 11th. His name is Brayden and he is in the the same as your son.I have received a few letters so far. Seem slow in receiving my mail. He has remained positive and upbeat in his letters. i know it is a very intense time for him.(his wording). He has wanted to be a Marine since he started high school. This website has helped me as he is my youngest and I am really suffering from empty nest. lol

Hi Brian. Our sons are not in the same platoon, but are still there together. My son Matt is in 1st RBTN/COMPANY C /Platoon 1073. He also arrived 7/11/2011 and will graduate Oct 7. We are from Pittsburgh, PA (specifically Baldwin in the South HIlls of the 'burgh). We are getting letters from him almost daily, although they are very brief-2 or 3 paragraphs. He was very down at first because he was not getting any mail for like 2 wks after we got the form letter with his address, even tho we were writing daily. I contacted his recruiting station & confirmed the address. The Sgt. was gracious enough to call Parris Island on our behalf to find out why.I rec'd an email from the Sr. D.I's office that stated that mail ONTO the island is very slow & needs to be security cleared &checked and the volume of mail is huge. He checked and said that Matt had just rec'd a large stack of mail the day before. Our son sounded so desperate that we weren't writing. I was heartbroken.Mail OFF the island is very quick-they have nothing that needs cleared because they have nothing to sent! Our son is in Communications? How about yours?

Hi Brian - My son left on 7-11. He is in Platoon 1075, Company C. I have gotten 5 letters since 7-22 from him. At first he sounded overwhelmed, but with each letter he seems more upbeat. He's a bit disappointed that he has gotten only 1 letter from home (I write him daily). He believes that the D.I. is holding letters for whatever reason he may have. I wish you and your son all the best as our sons train to be The Few. The Proud. The Marines. Rita

Hi Rita. My son also left on 7/11 from the Lebanon, PA recruiting office. He seemed relatively positive even with his first letter. We've received three letters from him and we too, write daily. I hope he is getting everything. We sent him a care package (items he listed as acceptable) of Power Bars and Gatorade Powder. Feel free to contact me at the Facebook address I listed originally. I look forward to October 6th and 7th as much as I am sure you do.
