My son left for boot camp on 6/20/2011. It was incredibly hard day. Have worried and been watching the mail anxiously for my first letter.
Yesterday I received a short one and made my day. Today I got home from work and had received another one. This one was awful! He is homesick and wants me to "get him out" he hates it. So awful to know your child is so upset and nothing you can do for him.
I am told this is normal and it will get better. Are there others out there that have had this happen? I know you are supposed to be upbeat but do I ignore this and keep positive or do I respond and tell him to be strong but there is nothing I can do for him?

Thank you, it is a relief to hear from someone else going through this to. I did receive another letter the next day telling me he is ok but majorly homesick, our letters seem to help so have made sure I get one out at least every other day.
