Education Requirements

Posted By: Tim Breazeale 05-23-11

My son wants to become a Marine. He's approaching graduation and we have experienced conflict about the requirements. We've had him enrolled in an accredited correspondence school which by the way is both Nationally and Internationally accredited. It appears there is interpretation issues. Does anyone have any experience with this and clarity to offer?

Then your son may need to pass a GED and use it for his high school accreditation. Ask the recruiter about that.

The best place to get the exact information you need for his education requirements according to his unique situation is to talk to your local recruiter who has access to higher ups who can answer that for you.

I appreciate the feedback. We've done that, actually we went back this morning. The key word seems to be "correspondence". It makes no difference that its an accredited program but that its a correspondence program, which frankly I don't understand. One would have thought the idea of having an organization of checks and balances would have been beneficial. We're working with the recruiter to see what options my son might have.
