My son left for Parris Island on 3-14-11, he is in Kilo Company PLT 3046. I had the the short scripted call like all the other moms. At first, I was so afraid that I could not get his voice out of my mind. I stumbled upon this site and this is the best thing that could have happen to me reading from moms who is going through the same thing that I am going through. I would like to hear from anyone whose loved ones is in PLT 3046, family day in on June 9th, 2011. I am counting the days.

Hi Marcia:

My son Matthew just graduated from Parris Island on April 22, 2011 and now he is at MCT in Camp Lejeune NC.

I wrote to my son every week a letter, a kept him updated with life out here. They love to get letters from family, friends, etc. It keeps them going and strong. I cried every time I received a letter without even opening the envelope. It was just the joy of seeing the letter.

But, he will be ok. The saying no marine is left behind is so true, according to my son. The platoon is one big family and they look out for each other, boot camp is not that bad.

Get ready for graduate, it is the most wonderful thing you are going to see and you will enjoy. Take tissue, so when you first see your son, you will not be able to hold the tears. Lots of luck.

My son also left on 3/14/2011 and is in platoon Kilo company PLT 3046. So far we have received two letters and they have been positive. I have found sites like this very helpful and a group of us also meet up at www.recruitparents.com where post are grouped by platoon and other subjects. God Bless.
