Swear In

Posted By: laura schumann 02-15-11

I went to MEPS yesterday and watched and video recorded of my daughter swearing in. I am so glad I was able to be there is it was awsome!! It made me feel so much better seeing her and how happy she was. Now I know I can be more supportive it really helped me understand. She leaves today for SC and now I am waiting for her safe call. I wish I would of known about the calling cards she could of called me from the airport.

Laura that's great that you were able to do that--and to video the event as well! Talk about a treasured keepsake:) I, like Tammy, am also the mother of a Female Marine--a newly minted one at that :) She graduates this Friday the 25th! Best of luck to you and your daughter--it will be the experience of a lifetime for both of you!

Hi Laura...As the mother of a Female Marine, I want to thank your daughter for having the courage and commitment to sign to become a member of the United States Marine Corps. Your support and encouragement from home will be more important to her than words can express. The form letter with her address should be delivered within 10-14 days after she arrives at PI. If she passed her IST yesterday (Thursday) she will be placed into her permanent platoon then the letters will be filled out to send home.

God bless your recruit and your family as you go through this 13 week journey.

I am so happy that you were able to be there with your daughter! Is she going to Parris Island? My son has been there since the end of November and is leaving for the Crucible tomorrow. It has been a very positive experience for him and I hope and pray it will be the same for your daughter!
