I thought I would feel relief when Joe began boot camp. Relief that he would not get into trouble, as only young adults can. Instead, I have been on pins and needles. Joe did call, that I would know he had arrived and was o.k. However, I was surprised that we could not talk. The call came at 10:26 p.m. (I was asleep), and well frankly, it sounded like total chaos at the top of everyone's lungs. Fortunately, Joe was able to calmly, firmly, say: "I love you, Mom. Good-bye!" That proved to help considerably, however, I still cannot mention his name without the possibility of crying. So, I do not mention him. Why am I acting like this? I always considered myself very strong. Also, is it true you do not receive the first letter for 2 weeks? Anyone else have a child, or husband in boot camp, Camp Pendleton, California; with Joe? P.S. So proud to be a member of the Marine Clan! Anyone live in Dallas area?
