I wrote this poem and just felt like sharing. I hope you enjoy it.


The More I Learn — 11/9/10

The more I learn,

The more I understand.

The more I see,

The greater is my respect.

The more I watch,

The more I grow in admiration and pride.

Before I had no understanding

Of what it took to be a Marine,

Or what they stood for,

Or why it means so much to you.

But the more I learn,

The greater is my understanding and respect.

Before I wasn’t sure

If I wanted to be a part of it.

But I am learning,

I am beginning to understand

What they do

What is involved.

The pride, the commitment,

The honor, the courage,

The bravery, the dedication,

The brotherhood, the Esprit de Corps—

It is beyond belief,

It is beyond anything I have ever understood before.

Before I wasn’t sure

If I wanted to be a part of it,

But I’ve learned

And now I know,

It is something I am willing to support.

You are someone I am willing to stand behind. respect
