My son left for boot camp on Aug. 9. Even though I knew since last Sept. that this day was coming, it was very hard. Realizing that the time had come when his life would be forever changed was tremendous. I am so proud of him. He worked extremely hard to prepare himself. He is holding onto his faith in God. I am doing the same. Our kids are accomplishing something awesome. God bless each and every one of them.

Hi Peggy:
Thanks so much for adding my son to your prayers. There can never be enough. My son is in plt. 1086. I received a letter from him today. If it helps anyone, he really enjoys getting pictures. Go back in your albums and pick some favorites that will make your recruit smile. After a hard day, they're just nice to look at and to remember loved ones at home that are routing them on!

Hi Sonya:
Having no experience at this at all, I can only suggest to call your son's recruiter and maybe double check the address. If you're sure the address is correct, it might just be that the mail there is not what it is here. I know how you feel though. I've heard from my son Plt. 1086, but I get the feeling from his letters that he never even received my first letter. He very much appreciates that we are sending pictures though. He actually asked me in his letter that I got today to keep sending them. Also, encourage his friends to write. All my best.

My son left on Aug 3rd. I feel you pain and your understanding. It is still hard today. My son is in Golf co.2nd RTBN. My one main concern is that we have gotten letters from him but he is not getting our letters. There are others in PLT that our receving letters. I do not know what the hold up is. He is stressing out because he has not heard from home.

Hi Kathy, our son left for boot camp on August 9th as well. What a roller-coaster of emotions -- pride and sadness. Life indeed has changed forever for us all. Becoming a Marine has always been his dream. We had fox holes dug in the backyard of every house we've ever lived in!
I am a pastor and will add your son our Sunday prayers. Their motto is Semper Fidelis -- but it was God's motto first. Peace to you!
