Cpl Nicolas Roberts

History in the USMC
Corporal Nicolas Scott Roberts joined the Marine Corps in November 26, 2001, following his graduation from Rocky Mountain High School. Following recruit training he attended the School of Infantry for training as an infantry Marine. He served as a rifleman and fire team leader with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines in two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Commendation
Cpl. Roberts was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/ Combat ā€œVā€ for his selfless actions while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on September 12 and September 27, 2004. On September 12, Cpl. Roberts reinforced the posts of Echo Company while under attack from numerous insurgents. He was exposed to heavy small arms fires, as he ran from post to post distributing extra ammunition from the armory. His efforts assisted in destroying numerous insurgents. On September 27, 2004, Cpl. Roberts carried a Marine casualty across a roof and down three flights of stairs, exposing himself to continuous sniper fire. Cpl. Roberts was also awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action December 1, 2004.
