Sgt William Kittell
History in the USMC
Sergeant William Kittell joined the Marine Corps in October 2003. After graduating from recruit training, he went to the School of Infantry and earned the military occupational specialty of infantryman. He was assigned to Headquarters Company, 8th Marines, 2nd Marine Division. In 2006, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Commendation
Sergeant Kittell was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat āVā for his life-saving actions while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on May 18, 2006 in Ramadi, Iraq. Without hesitation, he ran across a danger area and exposed himself to enemy fire in order to save fellow Marines who had been wounded. His selfless initiative and courageous actions were instrumental in the evacuation of Marines needing urgent medical care, and in the destruction of an enemy stronghold.
