Sgt Robert Kerman
History in the USMC
Sergeant Kerman joined the Marine Corps in February 2002. After recruit training, he attended the School of Infantry and earned the military occupational specialty as an infantryman. He was then assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines as a rifleman. In 2003, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Commendation
Sergeant Kerman was awarded the Silver Star for selfless actions while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on March 25, 2003. Greatly outnumbered and under fire from the enemy, Kerman applied Marine Corps marksmanship fundamentals, disabling the enemy with every shot. His actions had a direct impact on the welfare of the entire battalion.
